Bird Tour- Forest birds of southeastern Amazonian Brazil-Blue-cheeked Jacamar
Look for new birds posted in Birder's Corner each Monday
This beautiful rainforest dweller, a resident at Jardim da Amazonia lodge in southeast Brazil, is a typical member of its avian family – beautiful, graceful and spirited. Most members of the family occur in the primary and secondary lowland forests of South America. They are agile and very quick to catch insects on the wing, often butterflies. Jacamars are very vocal. When pairs live in close proximity, their high-pitched chorus can be heard throughout the forest.
