Bird Tour-Forest birds of southeastern Amazonian Brazil-Cone-billed Tanager
A Rare Amazonian Bird
One of the rarest birds of the Amazonian rainforest, cone-billed tanagers are specialists, preferring mainly oxbow lakes formed by Amazonian rivers, as here in a small oxbow formed by the Rio Claro in the southeastern Amazon. Many oxbow lakes are being decimated by the extended, climate-related drought in parts of the Amazon, but here the bird readily sings and seems content with its scarce habitat.
